Footsteps on the Moon (1967)

Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Rocket scientist Werner Von Braun narrates this documentary of the flight of Apollo 11. Newsreel footage dating back to the 1920s traces the history of the American space program. Honoring the late President Kennedy's promise to land a man on the moon by the end of the decade, Apollo 11 is dispatched spaceward in July of 1969. Profiles of astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins are briefly offered before the climactic "One small step for man." Footsteps on the Moon is listed in some sources as a 1967 release, but this hardly seems likely.
