Synopsis by Hal Erickson

A novel by Robert Hichens served as the inspiration for the British melodrama Flames. The story is predicated on the "transmigration of souls" theory. An impressionable young man permits an elderly occultist to "borrow" his soul. When it becomes obvious that the old guy has no intention of returning the younger soul, the hero's friends conspire to trick the trickster into giving up the ghost, as it were. Leading lady Margaret Bannerman plays a character named Cuckoo, indicating perhaps that we aren't expected to take this folderol seriously.
