Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

Fans of the Rio soccer team of Brazil will be particularly pleased to encounter this film, which celebrates the history of the team and the careers of its luminaries including Pele, Zico, Zizhino and others in its fifty-year history (to 1980). The film's lively soundtrack includes team songs, sambas and slogans. Intended as in part a means for celebrating the nation's support for this beloved fútbol team, it might best be viewed in a theater packed with screaming, cheering, and weeping fans. In addition, the film also serves as a documentary record of the supportive (and other) behavior of the team's fans over the years.
