Formed during the turbulent '30s, the German military machine under the instructions of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi leadership created the Wehrmacht as part of a National Defense force, and the Luftwaffe was deployed as a lethal air force. During the course of World War II, the Luftwaffe pilots and their combat planes caused heavily casualties, ruling the skies over Europe from Russia to France to England for the first years of the war. This documentary follows the history of the Luftwaffe, using archival German and Allied forces film footage in order to understand the perspective of a dangerous time and era.
