Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Produced at the Montréal facilities of the CBC, Festival D'ete was a Sunday-night series of music and dance recitals. Some of the works offered herein were originals, others were old favorites, presented on TV for the first time. In the latter category was Kurt Weill's family folk opera Down in the Valley, which evidently had never before been telecast on either side of the U.S.-Canadian border. Festival D'ete aired live from July 4 through August 29, 1954.
