Synopsis by Michael Hastings
Boston area filmmaker Marcella Hoekstra's second feature is a post-feminist morality tale centering around a gang of confrontational young women who have made it their goal to eliminate what they perceive to be the "mindless drones" of femininity. Fem Vitae stars Nicole Beckwith as Jae, a 21-year-old still reeling from her mother's suicide when she takes up with the belligerent gang, joining them in their violent, ritualistic assaults on soccer moms and sorority girls. But when Jae catches a glimpse of the free-spirited Catherine (Kimberly Forbes), she's ready to leave behind her life of crime and forge a real relationship -- but will her aggressive pals let her leave the flock?
