Hong Kong filmmaker Joe Ma directed this offbeat seriocomic tale about two roommates, the good-looking Jerry (Dior Cheng) and the bumbling Lok (Eric Kot). Jerry falls for sexy Fong-fong (Gigi Leung), much to the consternation of the pining Cherrie (minor pop icon Sammi Cheng), while Lok has lengthy telephone conversations with a mysterious older woman. Jerry invites Fong-fong to stay in the apartment's spare bedroom, while Lok and his telephone paramour start having increasingly bizarre sexual liaisons. The situation is complicated slightly by Fong-fong's wealthy ex-boyfriend and her desire to study in France, two factors which conspire to drive Jerry toward the woman who really loves him, the long-suffering Cherrie. Allen Ting co-stars with Christine Ng, Law Kar-ying, and Vincent Kok. Genre devotees will also recognize Spencer Lam in a small role.
