Dave (Kirk Alyn) manages to stop his car inches away from Laura (Rosemary La Planche), who, miraculously, is unhurt. Back at the National Museum, the Federal Agents cross-examine the captured Spade Gordon (Roy Barcroft), while a furious Nila (Carol Forman) plans her next step. Dave smartly intercepts Gordon's lawyer, Frank Chambers (Tristram Coffin), arrests him for concealing a weapon, and, hiding behind a false beard, presents himself to Gordon as Chambers' associate. Engaging in a bit of deception, Dave and his colleague, Steve Evans (James Dale), allow Gordon to escape with what he believes to be the Golden Hand of Abistahn. But when Gordon and Nila open the package they find instead a locator device. Dave, however, foolishly walks straight into a trap and is disarmed by Gordon. Forced by Nila, Dave calls Laura and demands that she deliver the Golden Hand to Nila's messenger. "Well Mr. Worth," Nila sneers, her gun aimed directly at Dave, "now that I have the Golden Hand, I no longer need you!"
