World-renowned musician Anishinaabe (Tantoo Cardinal) has gone back to her home in Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation, in the north of Ontario after a long time on tour with her band. Seeking to escape her celebrity status, Mary may have more of a reason than she lets on for wanting to return home. Mary’s sister Betty (Tina Keeper) encourages Mary to mix with old friends and family and just as her life begins to open up to new possibilities, the past begins to rear its ugly head and Mary must face terrible secrets she refuses to be a victim of.
