Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This video is a retelling for children of Homer's story of Odysseus and his adventures on the way home to his island kingdom of Ithaca after the fall of Troy. Punished by the gods for his hubris -- arrogance in the needless slaying of the citizens of Troy -- Odysseus and his men are doomed to wander for ten years, meeting such challengers as the Cyclops and Circe. With the aid of the goddess Athena, Odysseus grows into maturity and regains his kingdom and his wife Penelope. This volume contains "Telemachus, Son of Odysseus" and "The Terrible Sea." Each story is introduced by children and is told with colorful illustrations.
