Eyes West originated as a 15-minute component of the Canadian afternoon children's series Junior Magazine. Produced in British Columbia, the segment offered tantalizing filmed glimpses of that colorful Canadian provinces. Advertised as a separate series, Eyes West was carried by the CBC on Fridays from April 7 to June 30, 1961. The individual segments have since been rebroadcast countless times as filler on the network's weekend schedule.
