Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This documentary chronicles the life of Evita Peron, wife of Argentinean President Juan Peron. The former radio personality and screen actress married Peron in 1945. Her concern for the poor and her influence within the government made her loved by the common people, but shunned by the wealthy and powerful. Peron himself became jealous of her power. However, after her death from cancer, without her by his side, his own political star faded. The story of political intrigue makes for interesting viewing. There is an inside look at the making of Alan Parker's commercial film version of Evita. The Andrew Lloyd Webber stage musical turned film starred Madonna in the title role, who is interviewed in the video, along with Parker.
