Andy, Harold and Linda work frantically to save three trapped, injured coal miners (James Earl Jones, Beau Bridges, Kirsten Nelson), whose individual stories are told via flashbacks. Jones plays a curmudgeonly jazz aficionado who takes on an unlikely protégé; Bridges portrays the Abbotts' eccentric neighbor; and Nelson guest stars as one of Andy's patients.
