Review by Mike DiBella

Curiously released around the same time as another art theft film, The Thomas Crown Affair, Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones stumble through this awkward heist picture. Set within the paranoid shadow of "the impending millennium," the thrills and chills in this tale of trickery and deception are minimal. While certainly not painful to look at, Zeta-Jones gives a dreadfully stiff performance; Connery is decidedly off his game as well. Where Thomas Crown was at times clever and slick, Entrapment pales in both regards. Relying heavily on the millennial scare also dates this film severely; it's little more than an attempt to capitalize on what turned out to be an anti-climactic phenomenon.
