Synopsis by Hal Erickson
First broadcast on Saturday, January 3, 1970, the Canadian public affairs series Encounter was originally moderated by Ron Collister and Charles Lynch. On each episode, the two hosts and a guest journalist would grill a prominent politician, in the time-honored manner of NBC's Meet the Press. Throughout most of its run, the series fluctuated between a Thursday and Sunday-evening time slot. The final Encounter aired over the CBC on September 5, 1974, by which time the original hosts had been replaced by Doug Collins and Elizabeth Gray.
