Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

A mysterious motorcycle rider cloaked in black comes to the assistance of the screen's first Tarzan, Elmo Lincoln, in this 18-chapter serial from Universal. The motorcycle rider is known only as the Phantom Menace of Mad Mountain and his identity is not revealed until the final chapter, "Unmasked." Meanwhile, Lincoln, as forest ranger Howard Armstrong, has his hands full foiling the nefarious plans of a timber syndicate -- not to mention rescuing Red Cross nurse Lucille Gray (Grace Cunard) from several fates worse than death. A highly successful enterprise, Elmo the Mighty was directed by the head of Universal's serial division, Henry MacRae, and also featured character actors Rex De Rosselli and William Orlamond, cowboy star Bob Reeves, and, for comedy, the "Chaplin of the Orient," Chai Hong.
