Synopsis by Bruce Eder
Author and screenwriter Thea von Harbou, one of the more prominent film writers in Germany to embrace the Hitler regime, briefly tried her hand at movie directing with this and her next project. Elisabeth und der Narr (Elizabeth and the Fool) was based on a story by Walter Reimann, and starred German ingenue Hertha Thiele in a tale of a woman's religious devotion. It was released in January of 1934 after several months in the hands of government censors.
