Rodrigo (Calvin Lira Portales) is the aristocrat who marries a wealthy woman (Raquel Parot) in this solemn melodrama. When he takes to drinking and spends the family fortune, his wife is forced to seek work for the first time in her life to support the drunken Rodrigo and their children. Rodrigo resorts to petty thievery and soon is sentenced to jail in this tragic story of alcoholism and misfortune.
