Synopsis by Janiss Garza

The famous melodrama East Lynne was loaded with plot complications, so squeezing it into three reels, as director Travers Vale did here, must have been quite a task. But he got in all the pertinent details, relating how hapless Lady Isabel (Louise Vale) ran off with the wicked Francis Levison (Alan Hale, Sr.) because she believed her husband, Archibald Carlyle (Franklin Ritchie), was seeing someone else. After being disfigured in a train wreck she returns to her estate, East Lynne, disguised as a governess, to see her sick child and then dies in her husband's arms. Almost exactly a year after this Biograph picture was released, another version of the melodrama came out through Fox, this time starring screen vamp Theda Bara as Lady Isabel.
