Director Girish Kasaravalli's modern-day fable stars the famous Indian actress Soundarya (who also produced the film) as Nagi, who lives on a remote island about to be flooded by a new dam being built up the river. Nagi and her husband, Ganapa (Avinash), a priest, refuse to accept government compensation and leave their home because of the island's religious significance. Their resistance sets up a battle of wills between them and the local authorities, which comes to a head during the monsoon season, when the ferocious rains threaten the couple's home as well.
