A typical Mary Pickford tale, Dulcie's Adventure actually starred Pickford's chief rival at the time, Mary Miles Minter. Not much of an actress, Minter traded on her youth and good looks in a series of usually well-mounted but empty sentimental melodramas until her career was abruptly derailed by her supposed connection with the 1922 murder of film director William Desmond Taylor. One of Minter's first films for the American Company of Santa Barbara, CA, Dulcie's Adventure featured a young girl whose maiden aunts force her into marrying a European count although she loves the neighborhood grocery clerk (Allan Forrest). When the count is unmasked as an imposter right at the altar, she is finally allowed to follow her heart.
