Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

This well-intentioned West German educational film about sexuality and teens discusses (and illustrates) such activities as masturbation and homosexual liaisons (and more) and makes a persuasive case for society changing its restrictive and contradictory mores so that young people can enjoy their lives in a less convoluted and emotionally troubling manner. The notion that sexuality should be limited to married heterosexual couples engaged in a small assortment of behaviors aimed solely at procreation is given short shrift. It is doubtful that this film ever became widely available outside of Germany, as it would have been perceived as pornography by the educational establishment and as overly educational by the pornography establishment. It also had to compete with a burgeoning list of pseudo-educational pornography films, complete with pronouncements by imaginary experts, though the experts in this film are quite authentic.
