Synopsis by Bhob Stewart
Owen McPolin made his directorial debut with this Irish drama set in the refinery business. Boarding a bus, impoverished Paul Kelliher (Andrew Scott) leaves rural Ireland with dreams of better luck in London. Scotsman Al Russell (James Quarton) offers Paul work, but it requires a return to Ireland. Al's bosses want a giant oil-storage tank cleaned, and the pressure increases as the deadline approaches. Meanwhile, Paul attempts to enroll in college as an alternative to toil with crude oil. Shown at the 1997 Montreal World Film Festival.
