A jaded hipster finds himself dealing with the sort of family problems he never expected in this comedy-drama from director and co-screenwriter Matteo Rovere. Mete (Andrea Bosca) is a thirty-something bohemian living in Rome who hangs out with a crowd of hip creative types who live for the next party. Mete makes his living doing handwriting analysis, and has become caught up in the preparations for the latest marriage of his father Sergio (Massimo Popolizio), a former football star turned sports reporter. Sergio is marrying Virna (Aitana Sanchez-Gijon), who conveniently enough is also the mother of seventeen-year-old Belinda (Miriam Giovanelli), Mete's half sister, and when Belinda needs a place to stay in Rome, she ends up crashing on Mete's sofa. When Mete isn't chasing the night life with his friends, including womanizing Bruno (Claudio Santamaria) and high-strung PR woman Beatrice (Asia Argento), he spends some time with Belinda, and discovers they have feelings for one another which fall far outside the traditional sibling relationship. Adapted from a novel by Sandro Veronesi, Gli Sfiorati (aka Drifters) was an official selection at the 2011 London BFI Film Festival.
