Originally slated to debut on December 8, 2001, under the title Ultimate Reality, this weekly A&E extreme re-creation series was cancelled in the wake of the World Trade Center disaster of September 11. Finally premiering on July 6, 2002, the newly christened Dream Chasers followed various young and good-looking adventure seekers as they endeavored to fulfill their wildest dreams in an exciting and sometimes dangerous fashion. The first episode set the tone by showing a courageous young man leaping off a Norwegian fjord, then clambering up a Los Angeles skyscraper. The titular Dream Chasers were selected from various entries sent to A&E's website, with ten lucky finalists carrying most of the episodes.
