Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Set during the transition of LSD from frowned-upon recreational drug to certified illegal substance, the first episode of the second Dragnet series tackled the problem of psychedelic drug use among teens. After strung-out flower child Benjie "Blue Boy" Carter tries to eat the bark off a tree and sticks his head in a hole in the ground, he is held for public intoxication despite the fact that LSD is still legal. When the laws shift a few months later, Sgt. Joe Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Bill Gannon (Harry Morgan) hit the streets in order to make a drug sweep. Despite crashing a drug party and making some successful arrests, the officers are dismayed to find that Benjie has fatally overdosed on a deadly drug cocktail.
