Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Citizens are lavishing praise on the non-existent, but well-loved, Officer Gideon C. Dengle (Stuart Nisbet), and the fact that someone is apparently posing as a police officer quickly raises the ire of Sgt. Joe Friday (Jack Webb) and Officer Bill Gannon (Harry Morgan). Though he was recently the recipient of the businessman's club "All-American Policeman" award, the confounded lawmen discover nothing but an unending trail of false leads and repeatedly turn up empty-handed. When the con artist does finally resurface as a fire captain, Friday and Gannon move in for the arrest.
