When Brian finds a severely disfigured man (Richard Moll) named John living by himself in the woods, he brings him to Dr. Mike, confident that his mother will be able to treat external ailments as well as the internal ones she sees on a daily basis. Though suspicious at first, Dr. Mike and Sully realize that looks can be deceiving -- not only is John not a monster, but he is an exceedingly kind soul who was scarred in a terrible train wreck. Unfortunately, the town comes to believe that Dr. Mike's efforts at reconstructive surgery are actually a subversive effort to create her own version of Frankenstein's monster.
