"Comedian Rudy Ray Moore (Eddie Murphy) decides to turn the tables on his critics, performing across the country as Dolemite, a raunchier alter ego with a flair for martial arts. In the process, Moore paves the way for rap to be seen as a legitimate musical genre and offers wider commentary on the Blaxploitation phenomenon that swept across America in the 1970s.
