Synopsis by Alice Day
Not long ago, a diagnosis of autism could be devastating to parents, and the patient was generally looked upon as being mentally retarded. With modern techniques of therapy, the outlook is not so bleak. This program features a woman who overcame her early difficulties, and was able to obtain a Ph.D. Her story brings hope to families with an autistic child, and Doctor Is In: Autism shows other young people who are getting past communication obstacles on their way to a normal life, and are achieving their goals of entering the working world.
