Synopsis by Mark Deming

Dock Ellis was a major league baseball player who spent eleven years on the pitching staff of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1971, Ellis won nineteen games for the Pirates and the team went on to win the World Series, but one game was particularly memorable -- on June 12, Ellis pitched a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres while tripping on LSD. Ellis discussed the incident with the press on several occasions, and animator James Blagden's used a recording of Ellis talking about how he played one of his best games "high as a Georgia pine" as the soundtrack for his short subject Dock Ellis and the LSD No-No ("no-no" being slang for a no-hitter). Created for the satiric sports website "No Mas," Dock Ellis and the LSD No-No was an official selection at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
