Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Discovery was the catchall title bestowed upon three different CBC documentary series, all of which were broadcast from the network's Vancouver facilities. Focusing on the history of Western Canada, the series offered in-depth studies of explorers like McKenzie and Baker, as well as the country's involvement in the two World Wars and other international conflicts. Also presented were a program on Victoria's centennial, a tribute to Canadian bush pilots, and films about the region's education system. Most of the films were presented in multipart installments, so that the program never exceeded its weekly 30-minute time limit. The first episode of Discovery aired on January 7, 1962; the last, on September 29, 1963.
