Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This Canadian Sunday-afternoon cultural program emanated from the CBC studios in Vancouver. Studiously avoiding the "highbrow" approach, the series illustrated different forms and presentations of music, utilizing such talent as opera star Wynona Davies and conductors John Avison and Hugh McClean. In addition to presenting established repertory pieces, each of the series' five half-hour episodes also spotlighted brand-new compositions. Directions in Music aired live from April 23 to May 21, 1961.
