Synopsis by Mark Deming
Dominated by the fleet-fingered guitar work of Mark Knopfler, Dire Straits became an overnight success on both sides of the Atlantic with the release of their debut album in 1978, which featured the hit single "Sultans of Swing." The band broke through to true superstar status with 1985's Brothers in Arms, which sold over nine million copies in the United States alone and spawned the hits "Money for Nothing" and "Walk of Life." This 16-song collection contains the group's best-known music videos, including "Tunnel of Love," "Romeo and Juliet," "Twisting by the Pool," "So Far Away," "Calling Elvis," and "Heavy Fuel," as well as the above-mentioned tunes and live versions of "Your Latest Trick" and "Local Hero - Wild Theme".
