Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Die Sennerin von St. Katherin was inspired by a popular Austrian song. The title translates to Cow Girl of St. Katherin, the character played by star Anita Gutwell. Expanding upon the song's lyrics, screenwriter Theodor Ottawa fashioned a charming love story, wherein the title character falls for a handsome horse breeder. The film was lensed on location in St. Catherine, a region of Vorarlberg. Because of the worldwide success of the original song, Die Sennerin von St. Katherein, the film was distributed internationally; emphasis was made in the advertising campaign that the zither-music background was provided by Anton Karas, of Third Man fame.
