Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This documentary feature fills an important place in filmmaker Eberhard Fechner's wide-ranging examination of German life in the 20th century. One of the most celebrated entertainment highlights of 1920s Germany was a singing group which billed themselves as The Comedy Harmonists. This movie explores what their careers were like during the years they were active, and it examines their lives after the dissolution of the group in 1935. Nearly all the members of the group survived into the '70s, and of those who didn't, their wives tell their tales.
