Nuria Torray plays the widow of an army officer (Manuel Gil) who dies in a battle during the Spanish Civil War. She sets out to the scene of the battle to find her husband's body for a proper burial. Nuria is followed by a friend (Angel Aranda) who is now her enemy because he fought for the other side. He professes his love for her and tries to convince her to remain in Spain. After her angry reaction to his suggestion, the two recall the happy days when he was friends with her and her husband before the start of the war. She agrees to remain for the sake of her children in this plodding drama highlighted by flashbacks.
