Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
During seven days of each summer, Pejter's family visits the island Anna lives on. Twelve-year-old Anna has become very attached to these visits and is simultaneously irritated by her eager anticipation. Her pique leads her to be merciless with Pejter when he finally shows up, teasing him, being by turns condescending or very cold and generally making his life as miserable as possible. Her brother, too, is a victim of her ire. However, good-natured Pejter stays the course, perhaps perceiving the attachment which underlies Anna's behavior. He even stays on for an extra, eighth day.
