Review by Hans J. Wollstein

Although perhaps not everyone's first choice for B-Western stardom, Donald Barry makes a fine hero in this well-paced oater from Republic Pictures, which reunites him with favorite leading lady Lynn Merrick. He would make a total of 16 Westerns with the blond stunner, whose contract Republic shared with Columbia. Adding humor to the proceedings is rotund Robert McKenzie, a former producer/director/actor from the silent era who was given several good opportunities to shine in the Barry series, which was otherwise without a continuing comic sidekick. Less appealing were the appearances of Fred "Snowflake" Toones, who in Death Valley Outlaws is treated more or less in the same vein as Barry's horse "Cyclone" and dog "Duke."
