Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
In this undistinguished, confusing story about priests, gangsters, illegal immigrants and everything except pizza, Grace (Bonnie Bedelia) is the mother of an invalid, wheelchair-bound daughter. For no clear reason, the daughter runs off to a mission near the Mexican border, and her worried mother immediately follows in pursuit. Grace has been ordained as a female priest and so she has a special interest in her daughter's destination. Father Angel (Nick Mancuso) runs the mission with anything but priestly compassion, ruling over the illegal immigrants in the area like a colonial master. After Grace arrives, she ends up very much involved in Father Angel's problems, and the two of them soon have to escape some gangsters from south of the border. Meanwhile, the daughter seems to have faded into the distance.
