Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Although Edna Hunter plays the title role in DeLuxe Annie, the film was a vehicle for Norma Talmadge. DeLuxe Annie is a skillful con artist who employs several small-time crooks, among them a strange young woman named Julie. Suffering from amnesia, Julie has no way of knowing that she has a wealthy husband and a bouncing baby boy. In fact, the only man in her life at present is crafty crook Jimmy Fitzpatrick (Eugene O'Brien). As expected, DeLuxe Annie's latest "scam" requires Jimmy and Julie to victimize Julie's own husband -- which action suddenly jars the heroine's memory. The plot of DeLuxe Annie would resurface in various forms over the next eight decades; in 1985, it served as the basis of the thoroughly up-to-date comedy Desperately Seeking Susan.
