Synopsis by Mark Deming
One of the last of the great country bluesmen, David "Honeyboy" Edwards performed with Robert Johnson and Charley Patton on many occasions, and his fierce guitar playing and powerful vocals were a fair match for either artist. In 1991, the 84-year-old Edwards went into the recording studio to cut a new album, and David "Honeyboy" Edwards: Shake 'Em on Down captures the great man in action. Selections include "Bullfrog Blues," "Bald Headed Woman," "Anna Lee," "Drop Down Mama," "High Water Everywhere," and more.
