Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Creole girl Dolores (Pauline Frederick) is promised to wealthy Spaniard Pedro (Pedro deCordoba) by her mother. But while Pedro is off on a business trip, Dolores is lonely and wants some excitement. She finds it in Richard Ferris (Rex McDougall), a novelist who is taken with her beauty. He decides to make her the subject of his latest book and completely ignores his New York sweetheart Lillian Hetherington (Vera Beresford). When Pedro returns, Dolores says she wants to have her wedding postponed. But shortly thereafter Lillian arrives and Richard's affections switch back to her. Later, Dolores has dinner with Richard, while Lillian is hidden in his home, and to get revenge she tells Richard she has poisoned his drink and will give him the antidote only if he marries her. When he agrees, she reveals that he hasn't been poisoned at all. The scenario sours Lillian on Richard. Dolores, meanwhile, decides to drown herself, but Pedro is willing to forgive her. Now that she understands his true worth, she returns to him.
