Synopsis by Brian J. Dillard
A hapless wallflower gets an involuntary makeover from a group of hit-and-run stylists in this short film, which was originally commissioned for the Warner Bros. website. Despite her fabulous bone structure, Belkis Felcher (Amanda Peet) has neither the style nor the confidence to pursue romance successfully. Then her sister (Start Seefried) steps in and hires the Date Squad, a Mod Squad-style troupe of fashionistas led by Alpha Baby (Sandra Oh). With the covert assistance of Alpha Baby and her fellow operatives, Belkis attempts a first date with bachelor Fred (Adam Scott). But neither her evening nor Date Squad's assignment turns out as planned. Written and directed by Amie Steir, Date Squad became the first Warner Bros. Internet short to be sold for rebroadcast on traditional media. HBO, another division of Time Warner, purchased the film for broadcast on the Cinemax premium cable channel.
