Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

Director Irene Lilienheim Angelico was inspired to make this somber documentary because both her parents were prisoners in German concentration camps during World War II. Anxious to try to come to grips with an atrocity on this vast a scale, Angelico interviews the descendants of concentration camp prisoners in Israel with the hope of finding some answers as to why the inhuman, genocidal treatment of the Jews and Romanies (Gypsies) could have happened. In a democratic attempt at reaching the truth, she also interviews the grown sons and daughters of Nazis to try to understand the effect of guilt and/or shame on their lives.
