A struggling Hollywood actress finds it difficult to land plum roles now that she's in her 40s. Her partner in middle-aged cynicism (and equally good with the wisecracks) is best friend Maryann, who, when she's not hitting the booze, is always trying to make life difficult for her ex. In the series finale, the women were hauled off to jail after they accidentally killed him by blowing up his boat.
