Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

This program is part of an educational series that exposes students to the cultural and historical traditions of other countries. This episode takes the viewer to Cuba. The island nation, long shunned by the government of the United States because of its leader Fidel Castro, is a study in contrasts. Economic poverty co-exists with cultural wealth. The program travels the streets of Havana as well as the countryside of sugar cane and subsistence farming. Interviews with the colorful people of Cuba give the student a revealing portrait of the people of that country, how they see themselves, and how they view their neighbor to the north.
