Hoffa's rise to power and his tumultuous relationship with the U.S. Justice Department and Attorney General Bobby Kennedy are featured in the program. A special segment examines the period between Hoffa's release from prison in 1972 and his disappearance in 1975. His whereabouts remain a mystery.
