Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Previously a novel and a stage operetta, Coup de Roulis (Tossed Ship) was brought to the screen in 1932. Max Dearly plays a misguided member of Parliament who, after making a public statement denouncing the French Navy, is appointed head of a naval investigating committee. While on board a ship at sea, Dearly makes a bigger fool of himself than usual by falling in love with a woman of loose morals. He is rescued from disgrace by a handsome naval officer, who happens to be the boyfriend of Dearly's daughter. Its appeal limited to provincial French filmgoers, Coup de Roulis never saw the light of day in the U.S.
