Synopsis by Nathan Southern
The Texas blues landscape shifted dramatically in the late 1960s and early '70s, when it inherited and began to demonstrate the influences of southern rock, jazz rock, blues rock and many other subgenres characterized by fast turnarounds, complex rhythm patterns and structures and electrifying solos. Corey Congilio, an expert in that musical period, hosts this guitar instruction film, in which he teaches viewers 50 fundamental licks from this golden age of Texas blues. The riffs on display draw from such artists as Johnny Winter, Billy Gibbons, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The approach utilizes the Guitar Lab learning method, which draws on tools including PIP video, interactive tab and notation, and much more.
